Doctors under the Association of Resident Doctors in the Federal Capital Territory Administration have suspended their indefinite strike after 30 days of stalled services across FCT hospitals.
The President of ARD-FCTA, Dr. George Ebong, confirmed the suspension in a message on Monday, stating that the action followed the approval of the union’s demands by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
The strike, which began on November 1, 2025, was called off with a warning that doctors would resume the industrial action if the government fails to implement the approved terms within four weeks.
The ARD-FCTA comprises doctors working in 14 district and general hospitals as well as the Department of Public Health under the FCTA.
Dr. Ebong said, “ARD-FCTA has suspended its strike for four weeks with the hope that the approvals from Mr. Minister will be implemented.”
The doctors had downed tools to demand improved welfare, fair remuneration and better working conditions across FCT medical facilities.
The industrial action had strained health services in the capital, causing delays in treatment and increasing the burden on non-striking medical staff.
