In a decisive blow to terrorist activities, troops of the Nigerian Army’s 8 Division have neutralised 11 insurgents during a precision operation in Kurawa Village, Sabon Birni Local Government Area, Sokoto State.
Military sources told Zagazola Makama that the strike unfolded early Sunday morning at approximately 6:45 a.m., following verified intelligence on a terror group attempting to advance toward Tara Village within the same council area.
“The troops acted swiftly on credible information, intercepting the terrorists along their planned route with surgical precision,” a source explained.
The coordinated ambush led to the recovery of eight AK-47 rifles, with security forces conducting follow-up operations to ensure the area is fully cleared and safe.
Officials described the mission as a professional execution under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, the army’s ongoing campaign targeting terrorist and bandit networks across Sokoto, Zamfara, and adjoining regions.
“This is one of several successful operations this year, reflecting our commitment to dismantling criminal enclaves and restoring security in vulnerable communities,” the source added.
In recent months, 8 Division has intensified intelligence-led and tactical operations, delivering sustained pressure on insurgent networks while enhancing local security.
Military authorities promised more detailed updates once ongoing battlefield assessments are concluded.
