The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Friday inspected the ongoing construction of the Interchange Bridge and road network designed to link Maitama, Gishiri and Jahi with Gwarinpa.
The project, known as the full scope development of Arterial Road N16 (Shehu Shagari Way), stretches from Ring Road II to Ring Road III and includes two major interchange bridges at the N16 RRII and N16 RRIII intersections.
A section of the road from Ring Road I to Arterial Road N20 (Solomon Lar Way) in Katampe District was earlier completed and commissioned by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to mark the second anniversary of his administration.
Another segment, from N20 to Ring Road II, is currently being executed under the Jahi District Infrastructure Project, leaving the outstanding stretch from Ring Road III to Arterial Road N40, which will eventually connect motorists to the road leading to the Renewed Hope Estate in Karsana District.
The portion of Arterial Road N16 under ongoing development runs through the Gwarinpa Housing Estate, and its completion is expected to significantly improve access for residents in Bunkoro and Wupa districts.
When fully developed, the road will also serve Sector Centre E, a major commercial and social hub made up of four districts: Gwarinpa II C03, Kafe C05, Wupa C15 and Bunkoro C18, all located within Phase III of the Federal Capital City.
