BREAKING: EX-CDS, Musa assumes duty as new Defence Minister

Must read

Retired Gen. Christopher Musa, the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, on Friday officially assumed office as Nigeria’s Minister of Defence at the Ministry of Defence, Ship House, Abuja.

Musa, appointed on Tuesday by President Bola Tinubu following the resignation of former minister Muhammed Badaru, was confirmed by the Senate on Thursday.

His appointment has been widely welcomed, with many observers noting that his experience and leadership as CDS between 2023 and 2025 are expected to strengthen the nation’s defence operations.

AFRIPOST reports that Musa arrived at the ministry around 11:10 a.m., conducted an inspection of the quarter guard as per military tradition, and exchanged greetings with service chiefs and senior officials.

Officials described the reception as warm, reflecting confidence in Musa’s ability to lead the ministry effectively.

He immediately proceeded to a closed-door meeting with service chiefs and the ministry’s directors to discuss ongoing defence strategies and operational priorities.
