2027: Obi surrounded by spoilers – Buhari’s former aide

Must read

A former presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, triggered a wave of political reactions on Thursday after claiming that Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is a good man hindered by those close to him.

In a post on his X account, Ahmad argued that Obi’s associates are obstructing his political ambitions and should instead encourage him to step aside in 2027 for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“Peter is a good person, but the people around him will never allow him to achieve his dream,” Ahmad wrote.

He accused some of Obi’s supporters of sharing “reckless content” online, suggesting that their private counsel may be even more damaging.

“With this reckless content you post publicly, one can only imagine the kind of things you tell him privately,” he added.

Ahmad further urged Obi’s camp to advise him to make political sacrifices today for future gains, saying, “If you genuinely want him to succeed, advise him to sacrifice today so that others can sacrifice for him tomorrow. Tell him to come and join us; let President Tinubu complete his mandate in 2031, and then the future remains open for everyone.”

His remarks come amid intense permutations ahead of the 2027 election as key opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, explore options aimed at stopping Tinubu’s re-election bid.
