The Boeing 737 700 Business Jet belonging to Nigeria’s presidency has been withdrawn from sale by the US based marketing firm handling the listing.
The statement on the removal was confirmed in a press communication signed by Laurie Barringer, Manager of Market Research at JetHQ.
Barringer, in an email to The PUNCH, said the company no longer lists the aircraft for sale and directed further inquiries to the Nigerian government.
“Thank you for your email. We no longer have the listing on the Boeing. You will need to reach out to the Nigerian Government for information as to what has become of the aircraft. I appreciate your time — Laurie Barringer, Manager of Market Research, JetHQ,” the email read.
The jet had previously been listed on the company’s website but was no longer visible when our correspondent checked. JetHQ had earlier confirmed its availability in correspondence with The PUNCH, but Barringer later clarified that details beyond the listing were proprietary.
Before its delisting, the aircraft had undergone partial refurbishment at AMAC’s Basel facility in July 2024, including first class seat upgrades, cabin carpet replacement, and major C1 C2 inspections.
The presidential jet, purchased in 2005 for $43 million during President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration, remains part of the Presidential Air Fleet.
Its sale was announced by the Tinubu administration in July 2025 as part of cost cutting and fleet rationalisation measures.
Industry sources indicated that a pre owned Boeing 737 BBJ carries an average market value of about $56 million, depending on configuration and maintenance history.
The fate of the aircraft following its removal from the sale listing is now under the purview of the Nigerian government.
