Defence Minister designate Christopher Musa arrived at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday for his swearing in ceremony, shortly after receiving Senate confirmation.
Musa was sighted entering the State House around 3 p.m., in company with the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Oluoyede Kayode.
The former Chief of Defence Staff had drawn significant public interest during his confirmation hearing, after senators declined to grant him the customary “bow and go” treatment and instead subjected him to extended interrogation.
During the screening, he was quizzed on issues ranging from defence funding and intelligence lapses to technological challenges in the military, rising banditry, terrorist infiltration, operational setbacks, and the growing wave of kidnappings across the country.
The session also aligned with the Senate’s renewed move to categorise kidnapping as a terrorist act and impose the death penalty without the option of a fine, as part of wider attempts to tighten the nation’s security framework.
AFRIPOST had earlier reported that President Bola Tinubu had praised the Senate for the swift confirmation of Musa.
