IG, Facebook suspend Eedris Abdulkareem’s accounts after releasing song to invite Trump

Meta, the parent company for Facebook and Instagram has suspended accounts of popular Nigerian musician and activist Eedris Abdulkareem.

AFRIPOST gathered that his accounts were flagged and taken down, with no access, less than a week after the music star released a new single titled “Open Letter to Donald Trump.”

In the song, Abdulkareem addresses the President of the United States, Donald Trump, appealing for his quick intervention to help resolve crises, particularly the security challenges confronting Nigeria.

Released under his label, Lakreem Entertainment, on TikTok on November 29, 2025, the song is described as both a message to the US President and a sharp critique of Nigeria’s political elite.

Abdulkareem describes Nigerian leaders as “criminals of all shades and hues” who enrich themselves while citizens suffer amid severe insecurity, including kidnappings, killings, and terrorism.

While singing “dem dey fear Donald Trump,” the rapper positions the song as an effort to bring global attention to Nigeria’s deepening crises.

This isn’t the first time the outspoken artiste has used his music to challenge authorities.

In April 2025, Eedris released “Tell Your Papa,” in which he called out Seyi Tinubu and asked him to relay Nigerians’ suffering to his father, President Bola Tinubu.

Reacting to the call-out, the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) banned the song for allegedly violating the country’s Broadcasting Code.

In 2004, then-President Olusegun Obasanjo banned Abdulkareem’s song “Jaga Jaga,” but the song later became an underground anthem
