Doctors under the Association of Resident Doctors in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (ARD-FCTA) have suspended their indefinite strike, which lasted for 30 days.
The decision was disclosed by the President of ARD-FCTA, Dr. George Ebong, in a message to our correspondent on Monday.
The strike, which commenced on November 1, 2025, was halted following the approval of the doctors’ demands by the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike.
Dr. Ebong warned that the association would not hesitate to resume industrial action if the FCTA fails to implement the approved demands within four weeks.
The ARD-FCTA comprises doctors practising in 14 district and general hospitals, including the Department of Public Health under the FCTA.
Dr. Ebong said, “ARD-FCTA has suspended its strike for four weeks with the hope that the approvals from Mr. Minister will be implemented.”
The industrial action, aimed at pressing for better working conditions, improved welfare, fair remuneration, and other reforms, disrupted medical services across the FCT, causing delays in patient care and adding pressure on the remaining healthcare staff.
