Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has stepped down from office, attributing his decision to concerns about his health.
The development was confirmed on Monday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who announced the minister’s exit in an official statement.
According to Onanuga, Badaru tendered a letter in which he explained that deteriorating health had compelled him to resign.
President Bola Tinubu was said to have accepted the decision and expressed appreciation for Badaru’s contributions while in office.
