Vigilance operatives in Odorum in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, on Monday foiled an early morning attack by suspected terrorists.
The assailants were said to have stormed the community at dawn but were immediately confronted by members of the Egbe Vigilante Team.
As reported by Poltics Nigeria, residents said the gunmen engaged the operatives in a fierce exchange shortly after gaining entry into the area.
They noted that the prompt and coordinated reaction of the vigilantes prevented what could have been a major security breakdown.
Community leaders were still reviewing the incident on Monday, but it was confirmed that no life was lost during the operation.
Recently, a timber supplier and a staff member were abducted in Okoloke while working on a farm in the community.
