The Lagos State Police Command has denied reports alleging that the Commissioner of Police defied a court order in relation to the Nestoil premises, describing the claims as false, misleading and intended to malign the Command’s integrity.
A statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday and sighted by AFRIPOST said the allegation, circulated by some media platforms and repeated during a television interview, was a deliberate distortion of facts meant to misinform the public.
According to the Command, the Commissioner of Police remains committed to upholding the law and has never acted in a manner that undermines the authority of any court in Nigeria.
It added that the police personnel earlier deployed to the premises were withdrawn immediately the court order was received and verified.
“The allegations are untrue, unfounded and mischievous to mislead the public; the police personnel were withdrawn immediately. The court order was received and confirmed,” the statement affirmed.
It further stressed that the CP has always demonstrated respect for judicial processes and would not, whether directly or indirectly, disobey any lawful directive or ruling.
Reiterating the Command’s position, the statement noted that “court orders are sacrosanct and must be promptly obeyed,” adding that the Lagos Police Commissioner remains guided by this principle in all his actions.
The Command urged the public to disregard reports suggesting otherwise, insisting they were concocted to undermine confidence in the police.
