A respected Islamic cleric in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Alhaji Muhammad Bakoshi, has been killed by bandits who stormed his residence in the early hours of Saturday.
Bakoshi, who served as the Discipline Officer of the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS), Zalau, was reportedly attacked after armed criminals invaded his home in large numbers.
The assailants also abducted his wife who was said to have delivered a baby two weeks ago along with her daughter, whisking them away to an unknown location.
The incident has plunged the Zalau community into mourning, heightening anxiety over the growing insecurity and recurrent bandit attacks in the area.
Residents described the killing as devastating, noting that the raid further exposed the vulnerability of communities across the local government.
As of the time of filing this report, the Bauchi State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the attack.
