Man declared wanted over alleged killing of wife’s lover

A man identified as Shalbal Yusuf from Matadangwoni Village in the Auna District of Magama Local Government Area of Niger State has gone into hiding after he allegedly killed a 30-year-old man, Lusha Alhaji Washa, also known as Muyaye.

The attack reportedly occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, shortly after midnight, throwing the quiet community into confusion.

According to local accounts, Yusuf allegedly met his wife with Washa and a heated confrontation followed.

In the chaos, he was said to have struck Washa with a machete, leaving deep wounds on his head and neck.

Zagazola Makama reports that Washa was taken to the General Hospital in Auna for emergency care but died while receiving treatment. His remains were photographed and kept at the hospital for autopsy.

Security sources said the incident has heightened tension in the area, especially as residents worry about possible reprisals from sympathisers of the deceased.

Police authorities, meanwhile, have begun a manhunt for Yusuf, assuring that the matter will be thoroughly investigated to uncover what led to the fatal encounter.

Residents have been urged to remain calm and assist law enforcement with useful information that could aid the arrest of the fugitive.
