Segun Awolowo’s death national loss – Akpabio

Must read

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Barrister Segun Awolowo Jnr, describing the death of the grandson of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo as a painful blow to the Yoruba nation and the country at large.

Akpabio, in a statement released by his media aide, Jackson Udom, said the news of Awolowo’s death came to him as a shock, noting that such moments remind the nation of the mystery of life and human limitations.

He added that life and death remain within the authority of the creator, and humans can only accept His decisions with humility.

The Senate President commiserated with the Awolowo family of Ikenne in Ogun State, Governor Dapo Abiodun, and the residents of the state, describing the loss as deeply irreplaceable.

He stressed that Awolowo’s passing had created a painful void, especially for his wife and children who now face an unexpected tragedy.

Akpabio described Barrister Awolowo as a distinguished lawyer, devoted family man, and compassionate personality whose footprints in public service would endure.

He noted that his legacy “will continue to inspire for generations,” particularly through his contributions to the legal profession and national development.

Speaking on behalf of the people of Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District and the 10th Senate, Akpabio prayed for the peaceful repose of Awolowo’s soul and strength for his family, friends, and associates during this difficult period.

He concluded by asking God to grant the Awolowo family the fortitude to bear the loss, affirming that Segun Awolowo’s ideals and impact would remain alive in the memories of those he touched.
