The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has intercepted a vessel loaded with 20 kilogrammes of cocaine at the Apapa seaport in Lagos.

NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, saying the operation followed a targeted intelligence sweep.

According to him, the ship, MV Nord Bosporus, with registration number 9760110, sailed into the country from Santos, Brazil.

He said officers uncovered the class-A drug concealed beneath the vessel’s cargo during an operation carried out on Sunday, November 16, 2025.

The NDLEA spokesman noted that the ship’s master, Captain Quino Eugene Corpus, and 19 other Filipino crew members had been detained for interrogation.

Babafemi added that the agency had approached the Federal High Court in Lagos with an ex-parte application in suit number FHC/L/MISC/1306/25 before Justice Musa Kakaki to secure the detention of the vessel and crew.

He said further investigations were ongoing to determine the full network behind the shipment and its intended destination.
