Wike acting on Tinubu’s instructions to undermine PDP – Udenta

Must read

Political strategist and founding National Secretary of the Alliance for Democracy, Prof. Udenta Udenta, has alleged that President Bola Tinubu, the Independent National Electoral Commission and the Nigeria Police are working in concert to destabilise the Peoples Democratic Party.

Udenta, who spoke on Thursday during an interview on Arise News, claimed that the roles played by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, at the PDP national secretariat were executed “on the orders of the President”.

He said the turmoil within the PDP had moved beyond internal disagreements, insisting that the ruling All Progressives Congress was deliberately undermining the opposition.

According to him, the political moves attributed to Wike were part of a broader plot allegedly directed from the Presidency.

“Wike is not an autonomous administrative or political force. He is a dependent force,” Udenta said.

“Wike went to Wadata Plaza on behalf of the President because the President was at Wadata Plaza — not Wike. If Wike holds a press briefing, it is the President holding the briefing.”

He argued that Wike’s involvement represented “a deliberate institutional choice” by the Presidency to influence the PDP’s internal structure.

The scholar said the party’s internal disagreements were typical of large organisations but warned that the situation had worsened due to sustained interference from the APC.

He also berated INEC, accusing it of inconsistency in its handling of the PDP leadership crisis, saying the commission had failed to provide clarity on recognitions and suspensions involving National Working Committee members.
