The National Youth Service Corps has dismissed a pamphlet circulating on social media that allegedly advises corps members to pay ransom if kidnapped, describing it as fake and misleading.
In a statement posted on X and sighted by AFRIPOST, the NYSC said its attention was drawn to the document, which many users had wrongly attributed to the Scheme.
The management explained that although a similar proposal was presented by a consultant in 2021, it was never approved.
According to the statement, the material currently being shared is not an official NYSC publication and does not reflect the organisation’s security policy for corps members and staff.
The Scheme urged Nigerians to disregard the pamphlet, stressing that its position on the safety of corps members has not changed.
NYSC management reiterated its commitment to the welfare and security of all personnel, adding that it will continue to work closely with security agencies and relevant partners to safeguard corps members across the country.
The post concluded with the reaffirmation of the Scheme’s motto, “Nigeria is Ours; Nigeria we serve.”
