Eruku town in Kwara State was thrown into fear and confusion on Tuesday evening following a violent attack that left several residents injured and others abducted.
The incident has sparked concern over security in the region, prompting strong reactions from political leaders.
Former Senate President Bukola Saraki took to X on Wednesday morning to condemn the assault, describing it as a “disturbing disruption” to the normally calm southern part of the state.
Saraki expressed sympathy for the victims and their families, calling for immediate intervention from security authorities.
“I urge the Federal Government and our security agencies to act without delay to bring the abducted residents back safely and restore peace to Eruku,” he said.
Highlighting Kwara’s strategic importance as a corridor between the northern and southern parts of Nigeria, Saraki stressed the need for targeted security arrangements.
He added that protecting the town is vital not only for local residents but for national stability.
The former lawmaker concluded with a plea for divine guidance: “May Allah strengthen our people, heal our land, and grant us victory over those who threaten our nation’s peace.”
