Armed bandits invaded Tarah community in Sabon-Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State on Tuesday night, abducting nine residents and injuring one person.
The incident, which occurred under the cover of darkness, left one victim with a gunshot wound to the arm.
Revealing the incident via his X handle on Wednesday, a social commentator, Bakatsine, said, “Yesterday night, armed bandits stormed Tarah community in Sabon-Birni LGA, Sokoto, abducting 9 residents and leaving one person with a gunshot wound to the arm.”
He added that swift action by community youths prevented bad outcome.
“Community youth mobilized and confronted the attackers, preventing what could have been a far deadlier attack,” Bakatsine stated.
“This incident comes just days after the government redeployed Tarah’s vigilante group members to Katsira, leaving the community exposed at a critical moment,” Bakatsine noted.
