JUST IN: Enough is enough – Atiku condemns Kebbi school kidnapping

Must read

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has voiced deep sorrow over the deadly attack on the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State, which claimed the life of the vice-principal and saw 25 students abducted.

In a statement shared on Monday, Atiku described the incident as a tragic illustration of Nigeria’s worsening security situation.

“The abduction of innocent schoolgirls and the loss of lives is unbearable. Our children are not targets, and this brutality must stop,” he said.

Atiku also denounced the killing of APC leader Umar Moriki and the mass kidnappings in Zamfara State’s Tsafe Local Government Area, where armed bandits reportedly seized entire families, including women and children.

“These acts of barbarity cannot be tolerated in any civilised society,” he added.

Highlighting that similar crises are occurring in Plateau, Benue, and other states, Atiku noted that residents in Kano’s Shanono LGA are fleeing their homes in fear.

“The level of violence nationwide has reached an intolerable point,” he said, stressing the urgency of decisive government action.

He called on the federal government to strengthen Nigeria’s security framework, deploy adequate personnel to vulnerable communities, and intensify intelligence-led operations.

“Every Nigerian deserves protection, dignity, and peace, nothing less,” Atiku concluded.

AFRIPOST reports that Atiku’s statement shows mounting concern over recurring attacks on schools and mass abductions, a pattern that continues to destabilise communities across northern Nigeria.
