Tension has gripped the Babaode area of Ilorin after a female kitchen staff of a local hotel was reportedly strangled to death by unidentified assailants on Saturday.
The incident, which occurred around midnight, has left residents and guests in shock as the motive behind the killing remains unclear.
Sources disclosed that the victim was attacked within the hotel premises, with early reports indicating that a cloth was used to suffocate her.
A source said, “We heard the victim shouting ‘thief, thief’ before she was strangled with a cloth by the assailants.”
Conflicting accounts have emerged over the circumstances of the attack. While some believe the intruders were hired, others claim the killers were targeting the hotel owner, who was not on the premises at the time.
The development has sparked panic among guests, several of whom were said to have hurriedly checked out of the facility.
Kwara Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, confirmed the incident in a text response to DAILY POST, saying, “Thank you. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.”
Police authorities are expected to release further details as investigations progress.
