Bandit attack in Kebbi school leaves vice principal dead, students abducted

Must read

In a shocking incident that has unsettled communities in Kebbi State, armed bandits attacked Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) Maga in Zuru Emirate, Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area, late Sunday night.

The raid resulted in the death of the school’s Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Yakubu Makuku, and the abduction of several students, whose exact number remains unknown.

A local resident, Malama Murjanatu Hassan Gishiri, described the invasion as “a devastating blow that has cast a shadow of fear over the entire community.”

She explained that the assailants, moving in large numbers, overpowered the area without facing resistance.

“The Vice Principal tried to shield the students from harm but was tragically shot during the attack,” Gishiri added.

“The community has been in mourning, praying for his soul, and offering support to his grieving family.”

Attempts to obtain official statements from security authorities were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.

Community members are now calling on state and federal authorities to expedite rescue operations for the kidnapped students and to reinforce protection around schools.

The region has endured repeated violent raids, leaving residents increasingly anxious about safety and security.

A local parent expressed frustration, saying, “We can no longer wait for tragedies to happen before action is taken. Our children’s lives must be protected.”

Authorities are yet to confirm the number of students taken or disclose any progress in the ongoing search and security measures.

AFRIPOST reports that this incident yet again shows the persistent security challenges in northern Nigeria, where schools and communities continue to face the threat of armed attacks.
