Peter Obi has applauded the Super Eagles for their emphatic 4–1 win over Gabon, describing the team’s performance as a symbol of Nigeria’s potential when talent and institutions receive proper support.
In a message shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, November 14, the former Anambra governor said he made time to follow the World Cup playoff despite a tight schedule that took him from Lagos to Abuja for the Guild of Editors event and later to Anambra.
Obi noted that the thrilling result left him so delighted that he momentarily forgot his usual immediate post-match comment.
“My excitement after the match for the sweet victory made me forget my immediate tweet,” he said.
He congratulated the Super Eagles for what he described as a well-deserved and inspiring victory in Rabat, Morocco, adding that the team had once again demonstrated Nigeria’s capacity to excel globally.
According to him, the win is “a reminder that when we invest in talent and support our institutions, Nigeria can compete and win on any global stage.”
Obi extended his commendation to the coaching staff and all Nigerians who continue to support the national team, stressing that the victory reinforces the belief in a “better, stronger, and more united Nigeria.”
The Super Eagles advanced to the final stage of the CAF World Cup playoffs after overpowering Gabon with goals from Akor Adams, Chidera Ejuke and a brace from Victor Osimhen.
Obi ended his message with a simple but enthusiastic cheer: “Well done, Eagles. Keep soaring.”
