Justice A. Bello of the Kaduna State High Court has fixed December 11, 2025, for the continuation of trial in the case involving Polycarp Andrew, a dismissed staff member and former exhibit keeper of the Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Andrew is standing trial on a six-count charge bordering on criminal breach of trust for allegedly stealing over ₦22 million in exhibits while serving as the commission’s exhibit keeper.
He was said to have fled Kaduna after the alleged theft but was later tracked down and arrested in Taraba State.
At the resumed hearing, the defendant pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
The prosecution counsel, H.M. Mohammed, informed the court of his readiness to call two witnesses, an EFCC officer and an official from Opay Bank.
However, the defence counsel, D.B. Kwajafa, applied for an adjournment, citing the need for more time to review a flash drive containing a video recording of the defendant’s extra-judicial statement, which was only recently made available to him.
Mohammed objected to the application, insisting that the content of the flash drive was not relevant at the current stage of the proceedings.
After considering the arguments, Justice Bello granted the defence request and adjourned the case to December 11, 2025, for hearing.
