BREAKING: Court delays judgment in Lamido’s PDP convention suit

Must read

The Federal High Court in Abuja has postponed its ruling in the case filed by former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, leaving a key decision on the upcoming Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) convention in suspense.

Lamido, in his suit, sought to halt the PDP national convention scheduled for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State, arguing that the process violated party regulations and threatened internal democracy.

Justice Peter Lifu had earlier fixed November 13 for the delivery of judgment, following the conclusion of final arguments from legal representatives on November 11.

However, when the parties appeared in court on Thursday, a court official informed them that the judgment was not yet ready.

“The ruling is still being finalized,” the official said, adding that all parties would be promptly notified once it is available.

Lamido’s legal team expressed disappointment over the delay, noting the urgency of the matter given the convention’s proximity.

A PDP spokesperson declined to comment on the development but confirmed that preparations for the convention are ongoing.

AFRIPOST reports that the postponement may impact the party’s timeline for candidate selections and internal elections, with attention now focused on when the court will render its final decision.
