President Bola Tinubu has celebrated the re-election of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, describing the landslide victory as a decisive endorsement of the governor’s leadership style and development agenda.
Tinubu said the outcome of the election showed that the people of Anambra had chosen continuity and stability over uncertainty. According to him, Soludo’s re-election represents “a collective vote for progress, innovation, and responsible governance.”
The congratulatory message was issued on Sunday, following the announcement of results from Saturday’s governorship election.
Soludo becomes only the third governor in Anambra’s political history to secure a second term in office.
Tinubu, who applauded the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for its performance at the polls, noted that the ruling party’s dominance in the election demonstrated the strength of Nigeria’s democracy.
“The people spoke loudly, and their voices shaped the direction of leadership in Anambra,” he said.
He also commended residents of the state for maintaining peace throughout the electoral process.
The president praised security agencies and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for their role in ensuring a smooth exercise.
While acknowledging the leadership of the new INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, Tinubu described the election as “credible and transparent,” urging the commission to uphold the standard in future polls.
“This is the kind of electoral integrity Nigerians want to see repeatedly,” he added.
Tinubu said Soludo’s achievements in the last four years, ranging from infrastructural projects to policy reforms, made his victory unsurprising.
“Governor Soludo has demonstrated discipline, innovation, and a rare capacity for strategic thinking. Anambra is truly living up to its identity as the ‘Light of the Nation’ under his stewardship,” he stated.
The president reflected on his May 2025 visit to Anambra, noting that he was impressed by the governor’s projects and long-term development plans. “I saw firsthand the work he has put in and the vision behind it,” Tinubu said.
He encouraged the re-elected governor to extend a hand of reconciliation to his opponents and govern inclusively. Tinubu further assured him of full cooperation from the Federal Government.
“Leadership demands magnanimity. I urge him to carry everyone along and deepen the unity of the state,” the president added.
