Move fast, wisely – Adeboye tells Tinubu amid Trump military threat

Must read

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to act swiftly and strategically in addressing Nigeria’s deteriorating security situation, while diplomatically engaging with the United States following recent concerns raised by President Donald Trump.

Speaking after the November Holy Ghost Service of the church, themed “The Eve of Glory,” Pastor Adeboye emphasized that the value of human life must take precedence in all government decisions.

He advised that the President should issue a 90-day deadline to the nation’s security chiefs to eradicate terrorism or step down from office.

Adeboye explained that Nigeria stands at a critical juncture and that any delay could worsen both domestic insecurity and the country’s international standing.

“If I were to advise, I’d say to our leaders, move fast, move wisely, and move diplomatically,” he said.

“Convince the American President to hold off for 100 days, and within that time, clean up our land and restore peace.”

The respected cleric disclosed that he had given similar counsel to previous administrations, including that of the late President Muhammadu Buhari, but regretted that earlier efforts were not sustained.

“At one point, the order to eliminate terrorists within three months was issued,” he noted. “Unfortunately, the resolve was not maintained, and the opportunity to end the crisis was lost.”

He further advised President Tinubu to extend the fight against insecurity to those who fund and support terrorist activities, stressing that no sponsor should be shielded, regardless of their political or financial influence.

“We can’t defeat terrorism without exposing its financiers,” Adeboye said. “The government must be bold enough to confront anyone aiding this evil.”

Adeboye also warned that Nigeria should not rely on international allies in case of external confrontation, noting that while world powers like China and Russia might condemn any attack, they would not provide military assistance.

“If America attacks, others will talk, but nobody will come to our rescue,” he warned. “This is not the time for grammar or politics, lives are being lost daily.”

His remarks have since drawn attention to the urgency of decisive governance in addressing national insecurity and the importance of maintaining diplomatic tact with global powers.
