President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that Nigeria will not yield to foreign intimidation or threats of military intervention, asserting that the nation remains capable of tackling its internal security challenges with strength and unity.
In a firm statement posted on his official X page, Tinubu emphasised that his administration would continue to defend Nigeria’s sovereignty while engaging with global partners through diplomacy and mutual respect.
“We face our challenges head-on and remain steadfast in championing Nigeria’s interests on the global stage,” the president said. “We will not be coerced or intimidated, our resolve is unshakable.”
His statement comes amid growing reports of possible U.S. military involvement in response to alleged religiously motivated killings in northern Nigeria.
Tinubu, however, reaffirmed that his government is winning the fight against terrorism and will never compromise the country’s independence.
“Security is non-negotiable, and we will never compromise on this principle,” he stated.
“With unwavering courage and a firm commitment to the rule of law, Nigeria will prevail.”
Tinubu called on allies to strengthen cooperation with Nigeria rather than take actions that could destabilize regional peace.
“We urge our allies to stand firmly with us as we amplify our fight against terror. Together, we can ensure lasting stability,” he said.
The president also highlighted the sacrifices of the armed forces and intelligence community, describing them as heroes who “serve fearlessly and fight side-by-side, regardless of tribe or religion.”
“Nigeria is one united family,” Tinubu continued. “We rise together, move forward together, and reject despair in favour of determination. Our resolve is stronger than any fear.”
He further pledged to sustain ongoing economic and governance reforms aimed at building a more inclusive and prosperous nation.
“The task ahead is immense, but our determination is greater. We will continue to deliver a Nigeria that works for all,” Tinubu affirmed.
Concluding his statement, Tinubu assured international partners that Nigeria remains “a dependable ally and a steady voice for peace, progress, and stability across the world.”
