The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has appointed Senator Mao Ohuabunwa as Chairman of its Board of Trustees (BoT).
Hon. Isah Dansidi was also named Secretary of the factional board, replacing Senator Adolphus Wabara and Senator Ahmed Makarfi.
The appointments were announced on Friday in Abuja during the inauguration of the new BoT by the factional Acting National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed.
In a communiqué signed by Ohuabunwa and Dansidi, the board said Wabara and Makarfi could no longer retain their positions “in order to preserve the neutrality, integrity, and moral authority of the BoT.”
Parts of the communiqué read: “The Board noted that the immediate past BoT Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, and Secretary, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, having publicly taken positions in the ongoing intra-party crisis, can no longer continue to serve in their previous capacities… Accordingly, the Board unanimously approved the election of Senator Mao Ohuabunwa… and Hon. Isah Dansidi… as the Chairman and Secretary of the newly constituted Board of Trustees respectively.”
The communiqué also expressed appreciation to the outgoing BoT officers for their contributions to the party and urged members to remain united and committed to reconciliation.
It reaffirmed the BoT’s resolve to uphold transparency, inclusiveness, and democratic values, stressing that respect for the party’s constitution and national laws remained essential to the PDP’s stability and credibility.
