The Delta State Police Command says its renewed clampdown on criminals across the state has led to dozens of arrests, recovery of illegal weapons, and the rescue of kidnapped victims in the past month.
According to the Command, a total of 77 suspects were apprehended between October and early November 2025, following various intelligence-led operations aimed at curbing violent crimes and restoring peace in troubled communities.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, who has been at the forefront of the renewed anti-crime efforts, described the achievements as proof of the command’s commitment to securing Delta State.
“We are intensifying our operations to ensure that every criminal element feels the full weight of the law. Our target is a crime-free Delta,” he said.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the command listed its major achievements during the period.
These include the recovery of 13 firearms, 591 rounds of ammunition and cartridges, and three stolen vehicles.
The police also said they successfully rescued five kidnapped victims and recovered ₦4.1 million in ransom money, which was reportedly traced to gangs operating across different local government areas.
Edafe commended the efforts of officers and men of the command, noting that their commitment and intelligence-sharing with community members have been instrumental to recent breakthroughs.
He further urged residents to continue cooperating with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities and criminal hideouts to the nearest police formation.
Meanwhile, CP Abaniwonda reaffirmed the command’s dedication to public safety.
“Our results show that when law enforcement and communities work together, crime can be drastically reduced. We will sustain this momentum going forward,” he added.
The Delta Police Command said more operations are ongoing to dismantle remaining criminal networks, with a focus on armed robbery, kidnapping, and illegal arms trafficking.
