The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the postponement of its scheduled governorship primary election in Ekiti State, citing logistics challenges as the reason for the delay.
The party’s decision was contained in an official letter dated November 6, 2025, and addressed to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The correspondence, jointly signed by the Acting National Chairman, Alhaji Abdulrahman Muhammed, and the National Secretary, Senator Samuel N. Anyanwu, noted that the exercise, earlier planned for November 8, 2025, could no longer hold as scheduled.
According to the PDP, “the Ekiti State Congress and Governorship Primary slated for November 8th, 2025, has been postponed due to logistical reasons constraining the exercise.”
The statement added that a new date for the primary will be communicated to the electoral body once it is decided.
“Kindly refer to our earlier letter to the commission on this subject matter,” the letter further read, assuring the commission of the party’s commitment to due process and transparency.
Meanwhile, the postponement is expected to temporarily halt preparations by aspirants seeking to secure the PDP ticket ahead of the 2026 Ekiti gubernatorial election.
