The Senate has approved the appointment of Idris Ibikunle Olorunnimbe as Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) following a successful screening conducted by its Committee on Communications.
During its plenary session, the upper chamber also confirmed the nominations of Maryam Bayi (North East), Senator Ramoni Olalekan Mustafa (South West), and Ikechukwu Ugwuegede (South East) as Commissioners of the NCC.
Others who received Senate confirmation include Princess Oforitsenere Emiko and Christopher Sandy Okorie, both representing the South-South region.
The newly confirmed members will join the Executive Vice Chairman, Dr. Aminu Maida (North West); Executive Commissioner for Technical Services, Engineer Abraham Oshadami (North Central); and Executive Commissioner for Stakeholder Management, Rimini H. Makama (North Central), who had been previously confirmed.
With the latest confirmations, the NCC Board is now fully constituted and poised to strengthen regulatory oversight, promote innovation, and drive growth within Nigeria’s telecommunications industry.
