Founder of Information Rhema Power Synagogue International, Prophet Godspower Ukauwa, has accused former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uchechukwu Ogah, of betraying the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State for selfish reasons during the 2023 governorship election.
Ukauwa made the accusation on Sunday while speaking with journalists in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The cleric, who was also a former APC governorship aspirant, explained that he withdrew from the party’s primary before Ogah emerged as the candidate.
According to him, “Before the last gubernatorial primary election conducted in Abia state, I met Uche Ogah and our discussions centered on party affairs and collaboration to ensure the success of APC during the concluded main elections conducted in the state by the Nigeria electoral commission… Unfortunately, we and Abia people never knew he was not sincere with his governorship bid.
“That he was in the race and traded APC ticket to the then ruling party in Abia state…”
Ukauwa said Ogah betrayed the confidence reposed in him by APC members and Abia residents who had hoped for a change in the state’s political leadership.
“Ogah deceived party members and Abia people with fake promises to work for good of the state but not knowing he was full of deceits and wicked antics to curry personal selfish gains…” he said.
The prophet said he has since distanced himself from APC activities, citing the party’s failure to demonstrate the capacity to solve the nation’s socio-economic problems.
He also faulted the APC-led Federal Government for refusing to release the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, despite court rulings.
He queried, “Why should I continue to be a member of APC when government of APC is still holding my brother, Nnamdi Kanu on trumped-up terrorism charges despite judicial pronouncements ordering his release from detention…”
Ukauwa, however, commended Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, for what he described as impressive strides in infrastructural development and economic reforms.
He praised Otti’s leadership style, warning those plotting to unseat him in 2027 to desist from such moves and instead support his administration to continue its development agenda.
