The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has said it would welcome international support should the Federal Government fail to curb the rising wave of killings across the country.
CUPP National Secretary, Peter Ameh, stated this in Abuja on Sunday while reacting to remarks by United States President Donald Trump, who recently condemned Nigeria’s worsening security situation.
Ameh said the coalition rejects all forms of violence, regardless of the victims’ religion, ethnicity, or political affiliation, stressing that what Nigerians want most is safety and stability.
“Of course we welcome foreign intervention if the Federal Government fails to end these killings. The violence must cease without delay. Displaced persons should be able to return to their homes, those responsible for attacks must be held accountable, and communities must be secured,” he said.
The CUPP scribe urged President Bola Tinubu to order the military and security agencies to intensify operations against armed groups across the country, deploying all available intelligence and logistics to dismantle their networks.
He also suggested a 90-day target for measurable progress, with bi-weekly updates to the Presidency, noting that negotiation with criminal elements should not be an option.
Ameh added that if the government remains passive, the coalition would not oppose lawful foreign intervention to restore peace, saying: “Our appeal is for decisive action. If the government does not take the necessary steps, we would welcome any lawful support that helps to end the bactivities of these armed groups.”
