A Special Adviser to Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Commerce, Nura Hussaini, has resigned from his position, fuelling speculation of an impending defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Hussaini, who is a close ally of the lawmaker representing Kano Municipal Federal Constituency, Engr. Sagir Ibrahim Koki, announced his resignation without disclosing any reason.
However, sources within the political circle in Kano said his decision might be connected to alleged plans by Koki and some of his associates to dump the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) for the APC.
The development comes shortly after Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso expressed displeasure over the conduct of some NNPP lawmakers, whom he accused of fraternizing with APC members and abandoning the signature red cap symbol of the Kwankwasiyya Movement.
“We are watching them, and we will deal with them,” Kwankwaso warned.
There are indications that more NNPP legislators representing Nassarawa, Kumbotso, Gwale, and other constituencies may soon defect to the APC as political alignments continue ahead of future elections.
