Kaduna lawmaker dumps PDP for APC over party crisis

Must read

The lawmaker representing Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Daniel Amos, has officially dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), citing unresolved internal crises and the need for effective representation.

In a formal letter addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Jagindi Ward in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Amos said his decision came after careful thought and consultation with key stakeholders across his constituency.

“This decision was not made in haste,” the lawmaker wrote.

“After years of dedicated service to the PDP, I have come to realise that the persistent internal conflicts and lack of cohesion within the party have hindered collective progress.”

Amos acknowledged that the PDP had given him a platform to serve his people and contribute to Nigeria’s democratic development.

However, he noted that the growing divisions within the party, especially at the national level, had made it nearly impossible to achieve unity or drive meaningful development.

“Politics should be about impact and service, not endless infighting,” Amos told journalists during a press briefing in Kafanchan on Friday.

“My constituents deserve progress, not political stagnation. Joining the APC offers an opportunity to deliver on our shared vision for Jema’a, Sanga, and Kaduna State.”

The federal lawmaker emphasised that his move to the APC followed wide consultations with supporters, opinion leaders, and community stakeholders who, according to him, overwhelmingly supported the switch.

He further assured that he would continue to collaborate with the ruling party and other elected officials to ensure Southern Kaduna benefits from both federal and state government initiatives.

“We are committed to working with all well-meaning leaders for the development of our zone,” Amos added.

“Our focus remains on empowering the people and ensuring that Southern Kaduna takes its rightful place in the state’s political and economic structure.”

Amos also thanked PDP members and leaders for their years of support, noting that his decision was motivated purely by the need for progress, not personal differences.

Meanwhile, several PDP members from Southern Kaduna have reportedly followed Amos’ lead, declaring their defection to the APC.

Party insiders believe the move could further strengthen the ruling party’s foothold in the region ahead of future elections.
