A 42-year-old man, Emmanuel Egbosimba, has been arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court over allegations of sexually assaulting his 19-year-old biological daughter for several years.
Police prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, told the court that the alleged offences occurred between 2020 and 2025 at the family’s residence in Ejigbo, Lagos.
According to the prosecution, the acts reportedly began after the death of the defendant’s wife and continued despite repeated warnings to stop.
The prosecutor added that the matter was reported to the police after the young woman mustered the courage to speak out about her experience, leading to her father’s arrest.
Ademigbuji said the offence contravenes Section 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, which prescribes severe penalties for such acts.
Chief Magistrate L. A. Owolabi did not take the defendant’s plea.
He ordered that Egbosimba be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The case was adjourned till November 17, 2025, for further mention.
