Tragedy occurred in Eleyewo, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, where a man popularly called Baba Apana allegedly ended his life by drinking Sniper, a deadly insecticide.
Community sources said the man, believed to be in his 50s, left for his farm early on Tuesday without taking his phone along and never returned home.
It was gathered that he had purchased a bottle of Sniper around Ilu Abo before heading to the farm, where his body was later discovered.
The cause of his action remains uncertain as residents expressed shock over the development.
The deceased, originally from Ogoja in Cross River State, was said to have lived in the community for many years and was a father of three.
His remains have been taken to a morgue.
