Armed robbers attack bank customer in Ibadan, injure policemen

An officer of the Oyo State Police Command has been injured following a robbery attack in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, on Monday.

The incident occurred around 8am along Secretariat Road, Agodi. The robbers reportedly tailed a bank customer, who was travelling in a metallic grey Nissan Primera with registration number EPE 901 PS, to the scene. The victim was forcibly robbed of a substantial yet-to-be-ascertained amount of cash.

Oyo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, CSP. Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the incident in a statement made available to AFRIPOST correspondent on Monday.

He said, “Initial investigations indicate that an officer associated with the Oyo State Police Command sustained severe injuries during a confrontation that arose when his team on patrol engaged the suspects in a bid to thwart their further plans of causing chaos following the attack on the unsuspecting individual.

“Fortunately, there have been no reported fatalities, and the injured officer is currently receiving immediate medical attention at a secure healthcare facility.”
