A light aircraft carrying at least 12 passengers, including foreign tourists, crashed in Kenya on Tuesday, with all onboard feared dead.
According to CNN, the plane went down about 20 minutes after taking off from the Diani Airstrip in the coastal Kwale region on Tuesday morning.
Authorities said the Cessna Caravan aircraft, operated by Mombasa Air Safari, was headed to the Maasai Mara National Reserve when it crashed and burst into flames.
Officials disclosed that the plane went down in a hilly and forested area about 40 kilometres (25 miles) from the Diani Airstrip.
The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority confirmed in a statement that “12 people were onboard the Cessna Caravan-type aircraft” when it crashed.
Emergency response teams were said to have been deployed to the scene bas investigations into the cause of the crash continue.
