The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano State has apprehended four suspected criminals believed to be behind a series of house burglaries across different parts of the state.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, Ibrahim Abdullahi, the arrests were made after weeks of intensified surveillance and operations in identified crime-prone areas.
The suspects, he said, were picked up in Dambatta, Fagge, and Tarauni local government areas.
“Our operatives have arrested four notorious suspects who have been terrorising residents through repeated house break-ins.
“Each of them has confessed to their involvement in the crimes,” Abdullahi revealed in a statement issued on Friday.
He explained that the suspects were found in possession of several stolen items, including nine mobile phones, three standing fans, three solar panels, a flat-screen television, a bicycle, and three car tyres.
Other recovered exhibits included burglar-proof windows, electrical wires, MP3 speakers, a power bank, and other household valuables.
Abdullahi stressed that the arrests were part of the command’s ongoing strategy to curb burglary, vandalism, and theft within Kano communities.
“The NSCDC remains committed to protecting critical national infrastructure and ensuring the safety of residents.
“This is a strong message to criminal elements that there is no hiding place for them in Kano State,” he said.
He added that investigations into the case have been concluded and the suspects will soon be charged in court to face prosecution.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson called on residents to remain vigilant and support security agencies by providing timely information that could help prevent crime.
“Security is everyone’s business,” Abdullahi noted. “We urge the public to report any suspicious movement or persons to the nearest NSCDC office or other security formations.”
The latest arrest follows a similar operation carried out by the NSCDC in September, during which 19 suspected vandals were captured across several local government areas in the state.
