Nnamdi Kanu’s wife reacts to Wike’s readiness to testify in terrorism trial

Uchechi Ukwu, wife of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has reacted to the statement by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, expressing readiness to testify in her husband’s trial if summoned by the court.

Wike had said he would honour a court subpoena to appear as a witness in the ongoing terrorism-related case involving Kanu before Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Speaking during his monthly media chat, the minister questioned why Kanu included his name among the witnesses in the first place.

He said: “If you see Nnamdi Kanu, you ask him why did he list me? I did not go to say I want to be a witness. So if you see him ask him why did you list Wike as one of your witnesses?”

Reacting via her X handle, Uchechi wrote that such a move was in line with due legal process.

“Of course. That is the process we expect from the court. #FreeNnamdiKanu,” she posted.

Kanu is currently facing terrorism-related charges before the Federal High Court in Abuja.
