The Yobe State Police Command has arrested the Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Karasuwa Local Government Area in connection with the alleged killing of a 45-year-old woman recently found near the Federal University, Gashua.
The Command, through its Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed in a statement that the arrest of 60-year-old Abdulmumini Garba followed a thorough investigation and sustained intelligence efforts.
“Following diligent investigation and sustained intelligence efforts, police operatives from Bade Division have arrested one Abdulmumini Garba, 60 years old, of Gasma, Karasuwa Local Government Area, who serves as the Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Karasuwa and also the Secretary of the Vegetables Market (Kasuwan Gwari) in Gashua, in connection with the death of late Falmata Abubakar, aged 45 years, of Abasha, Sarkin Hausawa Ward, Gashua”, it said.
According to the police, the suspect, during interrogation, confessed to transporting the victim in his vehicle, during which a disagreement erupted over her request for financial assistance to support her business.
“The altercation tragically resulted in her death inside the vehicle.
“Realizing that she had died, the suspect stated that he subsequently disposed of the body in a nearby bush at about 2200hrs on the same date — the spot where the corpse was later discovered”, the Police Command added.
The State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, commended the Divisional Police Officer and his team for their professionalism and determination, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to ensuring that justice is served.
