Anambra election: Collect their money, vote your conscience — Gov Soludo

Must read

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has urged voters in the state to accept money from political vote-buyers but to still cast their ballots in favour of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) during the upcoming November 8 governorship election.

The governor, who is seeking re-election under the APGA banner, made the remark during the party’s campaign rally held in Anambra East Local Government Area on Wednesday.

Soludo accused opposition parties of plotting to manipulate the polls through vote-buying and electoral malpractice but maintained that his party remains committed to a transparent and credible process.

According to him, “They will come with their money and their plans to rig, but our people know better.

“Collect whatever they bring; after all, it’s public money being recycled. But when it’s time to vote, choose wisely, vote for APGA and for the future of Anambra.”

He described the APGA as deeply rooted in Anambra’s political identity, saying the party represents not just a platform but a movement that defines the state’s democratic values.

“APGA is not just a party here; it’s a part of who we are as Ndi Anambra,” Soludo declared.

“Our focus is on free, fair, and credible elections where every vote counts and the people’s will prevails.”

The governor called on residents to turn out en masse on election day, assuring them that their votes would count if they resisted intimidation and inducement.

Political analysts believe Soludo’s statement is both a challenge to opposition tactics and a rallying call to the grassroots base that has long sustained APGA’s dominance in the state.

With the campaign season intensifying, the November 8 poll is expected to be a major test of Soludo’s popularity and the enduring strength of APGA in Anambra’s evolving political landscape.
