Hunter kills woman mistaken for monkey while hunting

Must read

Tragedy struck in Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State, where a hunter allegedly shot and killed a woman he mistook for a monkey while on a hunting expedition.

Security analyst, Zagazola Makama, disclosed this in a post on X (formerly Twitter) and sighted by AFRIPOST, saying the suspect, identified as Otu Goodness Kanang, fired at what he thought was a monkey perched on a tree in the Basam Osokom community.

Quoting sources, Makama wrote that after taking the shot, the hunter heard a human cry and later discovered that he had mistakenly hit a woman identified as Victoria, whose other names were yet to be known.

He added that detectives later visited the scene, and with the assistance of local youths, evacuated the victim’s body to the residence of a community chief in Bansam for further action.

Makama further stated that the suspect had been arrested and taken into custody as police investigations into the incident continue.

“Police said normalcy has been restored to the area and the Command remains calm,” Zagazola wrote.
