Nigerian Afro Juju legend, Oluwashina Akanbi Peters well known as Sir Shina Peters, has identified classics as the most desirable legacy of musicians.
Sir Shina who was recently featured on The Honest Bunch podcast, said it is the dream of every musician to have evergreen songs at the end of their career.
The 67-year-old music veteran said he feels accomplished having bagged four classics, claiming that he has more classics than the late American pop star, Michael Jackson.
“The only thing you can show for showbiz at the end is how many evergreens you have produced. To my credit, I have four evergreens. Even Michael Jackson has just two; Of The World and Thriller.
“So, if I have four, I am accomplished,” he expressed.
Sir Shina Peters, however, expressed dissatisfaction over the current state of the Nigerian music industry.
He lamented that most of the standards he and his contemporaries worked hard to set have been “bastardised” by the present crops of artists.
