A Magistrate Court sitting in Kano has reportedly ordered viral TikTok couple, Idris Mai Wushirya and Basira Yar Guda, to get married within 60 days.
According to a report, the duo were ordered to get married due to viral videos deemed indecent. The now-viral videos showed the duo displaying romantic affection.
However, this content contradicts the state’s moral and religious codes.
The judgment issued by Resident Magistrate Halima Wali on Monday, October 20, 2025, warned that failure to complete the marriage within the specified period would amount to contempt of court.
Additionally, the court directed the Chairman of the Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board to supervise the implementation of the ruling.
According to a recent report, the duo were earlier arraigned for allegedly creating and circulating obscene content online.
Mai Wushirya was previously remanded after clips showing him and the female creator in compromising situations went viral.
Meanwhile, authorities emphasized that the acts violated existing laws in Kano prohibiting the production and dissemination of sexually suggestive materials.
