Popular traditional singer, John Zuya, professionally known as John Mai Molo, has passed away.
According to reports, Zuya died after allegedly eating poisoned food in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State. He began feeling unwell and collapsed shortly after eating the suspected meal.
He was taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi, where he was confirmed dead.
A fellow musician and close associate, Emma Wakili, confirmed his death in a Facebook post, stating that Zuya passed away at about 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025.
His body has been deposited in the hospital’s mortuary for autopsy as investigations continue into the cause of his sudden death.
Zuya’s death report came just a few days after the singer returned from Lagos, where he performed at several cultural events.
