The Bauchi State Police Command has successfully rescued three kidnapped victims and arrested six suspected abductors following a late-night operation in Toro Local Government Area of the state.
According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the rescue operation was launched after the police received a distress call from a resident of Euga village in the early hours of September 29, 2025.
The caller had reported that unknown gunmen invaded the community and abducted three men identified as Idi Umar, Idi Lawan, and Musa Lawal.
Responding swiftly, operatives from the Toro Area Command, supported by personnel from the Toro and Nabordo Divisions and local security groups, mobilised and pursued the kidnappers into the nearby bush. The coordinated effort led to the safe recovery of the victims without any harm.
“The swift and professional response of our officers ensured the victims’ safety and the immediate arrest of the suspects.
“This operation is a testament to our renewed commitment to protecting lives and property in Bauchi State,” Wakil said in the statement.
The police named the arrested suspects as Abubakar Usman, Adamu Alo, Abubakar Aliyu, Umar Habu, Abubakar Mamman Abubakar, and Shehu Sambo. All six have been taken into custody for further investigation.
The rescued victims have since been reunited with their families, with police confirming that they are all in stable health.
Wakil further disclosed that the suspects are already providing useful information that could lead to additional arrests, noting that they would be transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) in Bauchi for profiling and prosecution.
Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the operatives for their professionalism and quick response.
He reiterated the command’s commitment to rid the state of criminal elements and urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies.
“Security is a collective responsibility. We encourage citizens to report suspicious activities promptly, as timely information can prevent crimes and save lives,” CP Aliyu stated.
The Bauchi Police Command reaffirmed that operations against kidnappers and other violent criminals will continue across the state to ensure lasting peace and safety for residents.
